Our Covid Response

Sportsmen’s has been hard at work since the pandemic began to ensure that our programs continue and our players and students feel safe on the courts and in the classrooms. We’ve successfully continued to run our summer camp, tournament training tennis and even our virtual Summer Learning Project. Courts are open for singles & doubles tennis!  In the meantime, we’ve been busy delivering vital programs to kids and adults in our community.

Here’s what we’ve been up to:

COVID Testing and Food Drive: in partnership with Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Sportsmen’s hosted a highly successful week-long drive in its parking lot. Local residents were tested for the virus and given 25-lb boxes of fresh produce. Food insecurity screenings identified residents that were eligible for 8 additional weeks of produce delivery to their homes. Click here to see local news coverage.

Summer Camp and Tournament Training: our tennis programs for kids continued in person throughout the summer with social distancing and health protocols in place.

School To Sportsmen’s: our Learning Center staff has continued to provide virtual academic and enrichment support to students daily from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Adult Tennis: we welcomed back adults for outdoor play in Phase 1 and continued to re-open the club for USTA summer leagues and indoor tennis.

Daily Fitness Classes: Coaches offered online fitness and meditation classes daily while the club was temporarily closed.

Special COVID-19 Zoom Panel: Our Center for Community Wellness hosted online interactive forums to discuss the virus and its impact on our community. Panelists included world-class infectious disease experts from Brigham & Women’s Hospital and members of the Sportsmen’s camp, tennis and Learning Center staffs.

USTA Reopening: Our Executive Director, Toni Wiley, sits on three of the USTA Committees planning for a safe return to fall tennis. Stay tuned for more info. We look forward to seeing you!
