FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 1, 2025
Dorchester, MA – Sportsmen’s Tennis & Enrichment Center is pleased to announce the addition of two accomplished coaches to its growing team: Trang “Tk” Dao and Dominique Coicou. With elite playing experience and a passion for youth development, both bring international perspectives and a commitment to helping athletes grow both on and off the court.
Born and raised in Vietnam, Tk Dao began playing tennis at age eight and came to the United States in 2015 to compete as a Division I student-athlete at the University of New Orleans. In 2019, she was named the school’s Female Athlete of the Year. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Performance and Health Promotion, she returned to Vietnam to compete professionally, becoming the country’s top-ranked player and earning a silver medal at the 2022 Southeast Asian Games. She also represented Vietnam in the Billie Jean King Cup. Most recently, Tk completed her Master’s in Exercise and Sports Studies at Smith College, where she served as an assistant tennis coach, further developing her leadership and mentoring skills. Her coaching philosophy is grounded in four principles: Respect, Gratitude, Purpose, and Growth.
Dominique Coicou, originally from Haiti, has extensive experience as both a competitive player and a coach. He competed in international junior tournaments throughout the Caribbean, including multiple Junior Davis Cup events in the Dominican Republic. In 2023, he represented Haiti in the Davis Cup Pro Group 4 in Trinidad and Tobago. Before joining STEC, Dominique coached at leading tennis institutions in Haiti. Off the court, he studied agronomy at Quisqueya University in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. Dominique has spent the last several months playing with Sportsmen’s Academy athletes and now formally joins the coaching staff.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Coach Tk and Coach Dominique to Sportsmen’s,” said Toni Wiley, CEO of STEC. “Their unique experiences as international competitors and mentors add incredible depth to our stand out coaching team. The diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, and playing styles among our coaches is one of our greatest strengths. It reflects the richness of our community and strengthens our ability to meet the needs of every player we serve.”
