Sportsmen’s Capital Campaign
Sportsmen’s relies on philanthropic support and revenue-based instructional tennis to pay for the free programs it offers to low-income and minority youth and adults. We operate at or beyond capacity most of the year – a struggle that increased with social distancing. The pandemic laid bare the inequities faced by our hard-hit community – in access to after-school programs, academic tutoring, the internet, recreational opportunities and basic health education.
Our Goal? Raise $9M to expand our facilities to increase free tennis instruction and discounted summer camps; double our classroom space to host expanded K-5 after-school programs and increase health programming for our at-risk families.
Phase One
- Adds two outdoor stadium courts (60% increase in capacity)
- Doubles classroom space
- Adds 3,500 square feet of fitness space
- Increases year-round revenue to support nonprofit mission
- Bud Collins Welcome Center to include meeting and office space, teaching kitchen, and pro shop
- Hosts Breaking the Barriers, a history of Black Tennis in the U.S.
