John Anthony Schatzel, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on December 31, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton with his family by his side. He was the son of the late John and Rose (Manfro) Schatzel.

John was born on July 5, 1949 in Kingston, NY. He was employed as a Professor of Accounting at Stonehill College in Easton and was the founder and creator of realaudit.com. He earned his Doctorate in Business Administration at Boston University. He recently received the National Award on Innovation in Accounting Education from the American Accounting Association. He married his wife Elaine (Madden) on October 2, 1976 in Wollaston.

John was an avid tennis player and belonged to Dedham Racquet Time in Dedham and The Brown Billone Club in N. Easton. He enjoyed computers and technology and was a movie buff. John most enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Devoted father of Elizabeth Schatzel-Murphy and her husband Kenneth Murphy of Milton, Carolyn Schatzel and her husband Todd Liming of Dorchester and John F. Schatzel and his wife Christen of Squantum. Loving grandfather of Charlotte and Evelyn Murphy, Kellen and Olivia Liming and Jasper Schatzel. Brother of Pamela and her husband Bill Schatzel of Port Ewen, NY.
