Cate Grosskopf
What do you do with your day? Are you employed, a student, retired?
I work for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts as a Senior Manager of Strategy and Business Planning! I’ve worked there for almost 5 years since my graduation from college.
How long have you been running?
I’ve been running throughout my life while participating in sports like soccer, track, and tennis, but I got into running as a more serious hobby starting in 2023 when I ran my first half marathon (the B.A.A Half)! I’ve been hooked ever since and the 2026 Boston Marathon will be my third marathon.
If you could time travel back anywhere – where would it be? And why?
I would time travel back to any of the trips I’ve been lucky enough to take with my family and friends to visit the amazing countries, cities, national parks I’ve been to. I would be so excited to experience the food, sights, and activities all over again.
Who is your favorite athlete of all time? And why are they your favorite?
I have a lot of favorite athletes, but one who sticks out is Jalen Brunson. I went to Villanova University and watched us win a National Championship with him leading the team, and so now I get so much excitement watching someone from my school play in the NBA!
If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be? And why?
I would have dinner with anyone who would get ice cream for dessert with me afterward. Ice cream is my favorite food of all time and I’m definitely known for how much I love it.
Why should someone support your run?
I’m so excited to have any support for my run and for Sportsmen’s! Not only am I extremely motivated by my fundraising, but I’m addicted to fitness. Training for this marathon isn’t just my side hobby. I’m all in, whether it be from running, biking, or lifting every day to train, eating healthy and fueling fully, drinking lots of electrolytes, and going through too many pairs of running shoes; I love the training journey and am always striving to be stronger physically and mentally.
