Frequently Asked Questions

Why was Friends of Sportsmen’s formed?

Four of us with different connections to the club saw the need to make it easier for others to get to know all the elements we love about the place and to better understand the incredible impact the organization has on so many lives. Many who pass through the facility or hear about Sportsmen’s have never had the chance to really get to know it. Through Friends of Sportsmen’s you will.

By creating a pathway for you – we know that you will want to engage as much as we have. We really look forward to you joining us. Help support the organization through volunteerism and financial support. Friends is committed to the health and well being of the Sportsmen’s community.

How do I join?

You may click here and become a Friend today. One of our Ambassadors will reach out to you soon and fill you in all upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. We will ask all Friends to renew their pledge and involvement annually.

What do I have to look forward to?

Friends offers a range of opportunities that include both volunteering and social events. You will gain first access to behind-the-scenes information; be invited to attend gatherings in other Friends homes; attend tennis clinics; and more.

There is a wide range of volunteer opportunities that include mentoring in the Afterschool Enrichment Program; volunteering on the courts for Volley Against Violence; volunteering during Summer Camp; along with helping on fall/spring cleaning days or in packing up materials for kids. To see what is needed and to include your expertise click here.

What does my donation support?

Your donation will support the general operating fund. These funds are the most difficult to garner from foundations so your donation is vitally important. Do you have a particular Sportsmen’s program you really want to support? Then please indicate that when making your donation. Periodically Friends will host events that target specific programs.

Do I have to be a tennis player to become a Friend?

Absolutely not! Sportsmen’s Tennis and Enrichment Center is so much more than a tennis club. There are ample opportunities to volunteer for non-tennis programs that focus on education and health and wellness. There will be social events that do not involve hitting a tennis ball. All we ask is that you are ready to engage with the organization and get to know all that is happening.

What is the benefit of being a Friend?

You will hear directly from us about events, news, opportunities. You will get to enjoy meeting fellow Friends of Sportsmen’s at fun gatherings. You will support an organization you love while getting to know it ever more deeply.

How can I do more?

Friends of Sportsmen’s is run by a small group of Ambassadors who will be getting information out to everyone, hosting events, seeking to attract friends and more. We are looking for more Ambassadors. Send us an email friends@sportsmenstennis.org and we will be in touch.

Not sure you have the time?
We welcome you to host a single event and look forward to working with you to make it a success.

You have become a Friend and are interested in volunteering. Now what?

Once you become a Friend and have checked the box to volunteer, a member of the Friends of Sportsmen’s Ambassador Team will reach out to you to discuss your availability and interests to help connect you to the best volunteer opportunity.
