I am running for Sportsmen’s because I believe that everyone should have access to childhood sports. My experience with childhood sports taught me how to collaborate with others and tested my dedication, determination, and drive everyday. I wholeheartedly believe in Sportsmen’s mission to remove the barriers to playing sports and providing a space for kids to experience the benefits and lessons that come along with it. I recently picked up tennis and it has changed my life for the better, so when I learned about Sportsmen’s Boston Marathon Team, this was the team I wanted to run for!

Growing up close to Sportsmen’s, I was always aware of how important the facility is to the surrounding communities. I grew up playing tennis competitively, and eventually earned a position on the Brookline High School tennis team. As an energetic and at times overly competitive teenager, I thrived in athletic camps and places similar to Sportsmen’s. My family has been lucky enough to rent time on the STEC courts, and I am grateful for the fun memories there, including being able to play indoor tennis with my father on rainy days.
Most importantly Sportsmen’s is a place for kids to learn and practice tennis while offering a fun, safe environment in the inner city. I have always believed in providing athletic opportunities for kids and teens and believe that tennis (and sports in general) can teach a young person so much about mental and physical strength. It is an honor to represent STEC and all the people who work to make it an amazing, inviting, and influential place.

I’m running for Sportmen’s because I hope to be able to make an impact on the lives of others! As a dedicated tennis player and runner my entire life, Sportsmen’s was a perfect opportunity to combine two of my passions to accomplish something that’s greater than myself. Running the Boston Marathon as a current Boston College student is pretty awesome too. I can’t wait to reach Mile 21 and see all of my classmates and friends!
