What do you do with your day? Are you employed, a student, retired?
During the week, I work full-time and hang out with my two dogs, Tippy and Rudy. On weekends I like to get outside to snowboard, paddleboard, run, and catch as many Celtics games as possible.
How long have you been running?
I’ve been running races for the past 2-3 years, but running has been a part of my life for much longer through soccer and tennis. Both sports required lots of running training, which helped build my endurance and love for the sport.
What made you want to run for Sportsmen’s (STEC)?
Having after school programs and sports available to me when I was younger changed my life, so I wanted to run for an organization that not only provides a safe and supportive space for kids but also promotes youth sports and athletic development in the city.
If you could time travel back anywhere – where would it be? And why?
A few years ago I went on a snowboarding trip with my friends in Maine. It was one of the best trips I’ve ever been on, we had so much fun. So I’d time travel back to that trip and relive it.
Who is your favorite athlete of all time? And why are they your favorite?
Mia Hamm was my favorite athlete growing up, along with the entire 1999 U.S. Women’s World Cup team. I loved watching Mia Hamm win the World Cup and make women’s soccer in the U.S. more popular. Their success shaped how I approached sports and showed me that being competitive was something to be proud of. And I remember being so excited when Mia Hamm ended up marrying Red Sox legend, Nomar Garciaparra!
If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be? And why?
I’d have dinner with Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to run the Boston Marathon (with an official race entry). I recently read her book Marathon Woman, and learned so much about her life and love of running. I also have a lot of questions for her about that famous moment when the race director tried to push her out of the race.
Why should someone support your run?
Because not only would you be helping me achieve a lifelong goal of running the Boston Marathon, but you’d also be supporting Sportsmen’s, an amazing organization! Donations help fund coaching, tutoring, community programs, and create real opportunities for kids. Your support means everything, thank you!
