spring_cleaning_spongeIt’s confirmed! Sportsmen’s has been selected by the Grand Circle Charitable Foundation (GCCF) to participate in their Rebuild Boston Together initiative!

Volunteers from GCCF will be at Sportsmen’s next Saturday, May 20th, to complete a long list of projects, which currently include repairing the kitchen counter and adding more cabinets, power-washing the tile walls and installing new shower doors in the rest rooms, repairing and replanting the flower boxes and reattaching the fences to their posts in the parking lot, among others. All of our missing or blinking lights will be replaced, along with stained ceiling tiles, and several areas will get a coat of paint!

We need to get the club ready
so that we can get the most out of that one day!

This Saturday, May 13th, from 10 AM to 3 PM, we need to wash down the walls in the lobby, entryway, fitness center and all classrooms in advance of painting. We need to rake outside so that they can repair the flower beds, plant flowers and fix the fence. We need to clean and organize the kitchen so that they can fix the counter and install new cabinets. Finally, we need to empty and reorganize the shed in preparation for camp and the outdoor season, and so that they can replace the windows and add shelving.

Right now, we have only 3 volunteers joining staff members for the cleanup, so we could have a long day ahead of us! Please email Kjohnson@sportsmenstennis.org and sign up for any block of time, inside or out.

Come Out to Clean Up – and Stay to Cheer for the Men’s A1 Team at 2 PM!

Sportsmen’s Men’s A1 Team, competing in the Central MA Indoor Tennis Association League, is once again in the finals! Having beaten the Shrewsbury Racquet Club last week 3 – 1, Team Sportsmen’s will host the third place Longfellow Club team, which upset the Marcus Lewis Tennis Center to advance to the finals, this Saturday at 2 PM.

Before the buzzer even rings, please join me in congratulating team Sportsmen’s, under the leadership of co-captains Adam Monahan and Daniel Restuccia.
